Livin' it up in Kuwait: Colour Me Mine, Marina Mall

Livin' it up in Kuwait will focus on activities and events taking in place in Kuwait. I will be giving a brief review of these and whether I would recommend them to others too.

First up is a review of 'Colour Me Mine'. I first saw this art/ceramic shop in Marina Mall and was intrigued to say the least. They also have a branch in The Avenues Mall, Al In London they have a few of these arty shops whereby you choose a a ceramic items and you can paint and glaze it and then pick it up at a later date. Sounds cool right!

Well with my background being in Fine Art, my friend Anna and had been wanting to visit 'Colour Me Mine' since we arrived in August but other ventures got in the way :P Anyways we ended up going one evening and we both chose to paint mugs. When you get there, the staff explain the process and you pay for the paints and materials as well as whatever item you wish to paint.

Before ( mine is on the left and Anna's is on the right)
So we chose a table and then went to choose our paints and tools for to paint our mugs. The choice of colours is okay - there tends to be a lot of shades of green, blue, yellow and orange. I wish there were more brighter colours to use. I ended choosing...guess??! :P Shades of blue/turquoise as I knew what I wanted to create. An ethnic/henna style mug. I didn't draw any patterns on my mug. It was all freestyle. The process was quite therapeutic. I adore art and painting. However, we both realised we had come a little too late and did have to rush a little at the end even though the staff were lovely and didn't pressure into leaving at the closing time.

As we painted these before the Winter vacation, we had to collect them after we were back from our travels. It was an anxious moment as we were both wondering if the colour had come out. Thankfully we were so pleased with the outcome. I LOVE my mug and was even thinking of creating a set. I know..crazy right! We are planning on going back to maybe design some  coasters or choose another item. I will be sure to post some more photos go those.

After :) So pleased with the results!
But for now, if you enjoy art or being creative I would definitely pop long to 'Colour Me Mine'. It has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are lovely. It is reasonably priced. I think we paid 20KD  in total for the materials, paint and items which isn't too bad. You have to wait a week for them to fire/glaze your item and then it is yours to collect.

I hope you enjoyed reading.

Love & Blessings,
Sara xx
