The wait is over...!

* I will be putting up a few posts in bulk as I have had a bit of a break due to the wait*

I should have posted this three weeks ago, however the week before  I was having a really stressful time when everything gets on top of you, combined with really bad PMS made me a completely moody b*tch which I never ever get like :(  I am just so glad that I got over it and I am feeling back to normal. Being moody just isn't me!

As the title of my blog suggests I had been waiting some very important news for just over four months ( yes a 4 month wait was unbelievably stressful) but I couldn't be more relieved now....

I got accepted on to a Primary PGCE course at UEL for September 2011 :D

I was just so so relieved when the guy on the phone told me as I had called up numerous times and they were told that they could not release any information. I had my interview in November 2010 and was told it would be at the most a month's wait but due to the current government plan to cut bursaries, no universities could offer places before this decision was announced. The government ended up cutting the Primary bursary altogether which is pretty bad news but hopefully I will work things out.

I had the biggest smile on my face that day and I just couldn't have felt more relieved. I graduated almost two years ago in Fine Art and had been unable to find a job within the community/regenerative arts field, so I decided to opt for Plan B to work with children as I have always loved to volunteer in my free time. I was working for a makeup company at the time 'B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful' in Covent Garden but it wasn't my aim to stay in retail so I ended up temping as Teaching Assistant near to where I live.

I applied for the PGCE last year but due to the recession and mass applications I got rejected. It hit me pretty bad with the rejections and I felt 'lost' for a while but then managed to put things into perspective and give it a second go and I am glad I did. I felt more prepared with a greater understanding of the curriculum and school related issues that I had learnt and come across within my role as TA.  I am working as a permanent TA at a different school now which I throughly enjoy at but will sadly be leaving the school at the end of the school year. I feel lucky in a way as I since I graduated I have never been out of a job but now I feel just blessed as my wish is finally coming true...

It has taken until now for the news to sink and all I can think of now is " I can't believe I'm going to be a teacher!!" I am really excited about starting university even though I will have no life for 9 months but in the end it will all be worth it :)

Hope all has been well :)
